Private Plane In Nepal ?

As of June 2020, there are no any regulations for a Nepalese Pilot to own a private aircraft and fly privately. The country seems working to create proper regulations to approve private aircrafts ownership.

What if the Law Allows Private Aircrafts ?

Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has been unclear about some ultralight operation for private use. However, it seems completely legal to fly paragliders from any place following general flying rules.

But what if we are allowed to buy private aircrafts ?

Unless you are an owner of a huge noodles industry or are planning a new mobile networking business, it seems impossible for a normal person to buy private jets. And believe me, private jets are no fun (no I don’t have one).

What I think possible is to buy some STOL planes which can also be assembled at home. Pilot Pramod Regmi has been the first Nepalese Pilot to assemble his own aircraft and fly privately (not in Nepal).

Those aircrafts can be bought for price as less as some private cars in Nepal (if we neglect luxury tax). Other general aircrafts like powered paragliders, powered hang-gliders and some general experimental aircrafts are still a matter of dream for a normal flying enthusiast because of unavailability of aircraft parts.

Problems For Early Private Pilots (if) In Nepal

Lets say you won a lottery of Rs.10000000 (wake up). Just suppose. And you decided to buy a private plane just like Pilot Pramod’s. This is your first day and you fly around mountains and lakes and have fun. You live in a base far from Tribhuvan International Airport. Unless you are also an engineer, any fault in your aircraft can stop you from flying unless you call an engineer from Kathmandu privately. Airports in Nepal lack other services too.

The thing I am trying to explain here is that we are not ready. We are not really welcoming flying in the country. Being such a Paradise For Flying, we are still far away from what is actual flying.
